(健康) 更多人與HIV共生

沒錯，是共生非共死。

隨著越來越多藥物用來治療與HIV和愛滋病共生的患者，與這種致命病毒共生的人數已有顯著的成長。但是請牢記，數據顯示越來越多罹患該疾病的人，存活得比1980年代所認為的年限還要多好幾年，當時此病毒真正被公共衛生正視。

真的需要檢視的是從感染病毒到發病成為愛滋病患者的新案例的數目。世界各地的很多案例中，特別是非洲最嚴重的一些區域，那些數字確實持續下降。這是個好消息，因為這說明了相關的防範和意識的教育宣導工作的努力是真有效的。盡管許多保守宗教團體努力在這些區域僅提倡禁慾計畫，越來越多的團體和協會謹慎提供下列管道：保險套、性教育、人體藥物測試，和治療生病受傷用的血液與血漿，以及能夠減緩HIV發病成為愛滋病的藥物。

(Health) More People Are Living With HIV

Thats right, but its living, not dying.

As more and more drugs are used to treat those living with HIV and AIDS, the number of people living with the deadly virus has grown significantly.But, remember, the number shows that more and more people with the disease are living for more years than ever thought possible in the 1980s, when the virus really came to the forefront of public health.

What really needs to be looked at is the number of new cases in which the virus infects a person and develops AIDS.In many cases around the world, especially in some of the hardest-hit areas of Africa, those numbers ARE decreasing.And thats great news, because it shows the hard work in bringing education about prevention and awareness is really working. Despite the efforts of many conservative religious groups to promote abstinence-only programs for these areas, many, many more groups and associations are vigilant about providing access to condoms, sexual education, medical tests on humans and blood and plasma used in treating the sick and injured, and medicine to slow the advancement of HIV to AIDS.

In addition, efforts to empower women in their sexuality and family planning are helping slow the number of new infections through the increase in condom use and methods for ensuring a child is born healthy and HIV-free.
